This scholarship programme is operated by the Mike Yorke Golf Academy Limited specifically to nurture talented young golfers.  The prime sponsors of this scholarship are Val Hurring and Bill Francis

 

Overview

The Paul Hurring Junior Scholarship (PHJS) was established in 2001 with the main intention being to support young and talented golfers trying to fulfil their true golfing potential.

The programme has been designed to develop the skill in each of the following areas

• Player's Golf Swing
• Practice Routines
• Mental Strength on the course

It was originally operated by Surrey Golf and Fitness but has now found it's home in Horne Park Golf Academy where it has been based since 2003.

Since its initiation in 2001, the PHJS has been very successful in helping a number of young players achieve their potential.  Over half of the youngsters who have been through the PHJS have reached a single figure handicap and have now regularly represent their Counties in their respective Junior Squads.  This has been made possible by the hard work of the Youngsters selected for the Scholarship and the effort put in by the Professionals in the Mike Yorke Academy.

• Scholarship placements are awarded on a yearly basis.
   
• 2006 saw one of the PHJS players join the Professional ranks.
